This month we are going to be looking at the Santa Ana Overdrive pedal by Fender. In this blog segment we’re going to be giving features about our product of the month, providing pictures, as well as giving our opinion about the gear.
This pedal features some amazing technology called Field-Effect Transistor (FET) that mimics a tube like performance. So in a since you get a classic sound of a tube amp in a stomp box size. The Santa Ana also has A and B voicing which can be used to add some variety to your sound and recreate classic tones precisely with flexible tone controls along with your choice of two overdrive voicings.
To me this pedal is above and beyond other pedals in this same class. It’s built to last with its stage ready construction. It really feels like I’m holding something valuable, and visually it looks incredible. When you see this pedal you will know you’re looking at a quality piece. Let’s be honest, in the past Fender pedals have been behind the competition in appearance, feel, and sound, but the Santa Ana Overdrive has changed this paradigm. Weather you’re looking for a light “hairy” sound, or a thick overdrive this pedal is a must have. Price wise the Santa Ana is competitive with other high end pedals in the same class, but the sound you get from it is well worth the investment.
